I would say it's a good possibility you are on the right track. I have information of his parents and his paternal ancestry, but I do not have much of anything on Gilbert. Have you seen the 1880 census? Are those his siblings? I can share info and see what we come up with.
Thanks,
Russell

Look at what you wrote at the bottom about Henry Simon Gay. There is no way he can be the son of Henry III as he would be 109 yrs. old.
Henry Simon Gay is the son of Simon Lee Gay (b. 1755-1760 Edgecombe Co, NC) (d. aft. 1820, Irwin Co, GA) Simon Lee's parents are a mystery, but most list him as a son of Henry III, which would put Henry III in his 60s when Simon was born, and Simon is not listed on Henry's will.
Everything prior to Henry III is correct.

Gilbert (1832) married Mary Asbury Morgan abt. 1852
Mary married Manning Brown Sep 28, 1854 in Carroll Co. GA
Sarah married James L. Hill 1860
I have nothing for James, too.

I'm not sure where I got that info and I haven't worked on verifying it, but it's a start!

Thanks! I'll do some checking to see if I can find anything on them.

I was adding what you stated to my file and I had a note for Mary that said she may have also married a man named Owen Hilliard Kenion Hendley. I noted he was a second husband. Again, no records for that yet, but I'll look at that too.

I made a mistake in the marriage of William Leonhest Gay's marriage. After looking at their death certificates I discovered that he married Pellie Malinda Langley and not Pellie Malinda Gore. Sorry if I confused anyone.

I am researching my families ancestry --- right now i am trying to get past their entry to canada -- specifically sarah chappel (or chappell---I`ve seen it spelt both ways.)
I am told by my greatuncle who did most of the researching that he couldnt find anything beyond their arrival to Canada, but that he knows they came from england.

If anyone knows of Sarah Chappell -born in 1793 and married to James Gay - would like to know what her parents names were and where she came from in England.

I appreciate any help you might give thanks

Looking for any info on William Mathey Gay, beleived to have been born in Cottondale, FL @ 1900. He was first married to Annie Gay and had 3 children, Thomas J., Ida Bell and Aubrey Lee. The family lived in Holopaw, Osceola & Immokalee, Collier Co during that time according to Fed and FL state census records. Around 1936, William Mathey married Lucille (possibly Lucille Avery) where they had one more child Elizabeth @ 1937.

Rhonda,
My name is Olin Gilbert Jr. I live in Chipley, FL. My great-grandmother was Belle Miller. She married John Gilbert, my great-grandfather. I know that Bunion Gay was raised by my great-grandmother's family, so he would have been her adopted brother. My mother is still living, so I will ask her if she knows anything about him. My email address is: gilbert_olin@hotmail.com Hopefully, she will remember something about him.

Olin
